We developed our paint to be easy to use, and, obviously, look great! Here's the basic steps we recommend in a nutshell. 1) Clean the piece you've chosen thoroughly using a product like sugar soap, or our Brush Gel Concentrate. 2) Scuff sand your surfaces with a medium grit sandpaper. Not to remove the existing surface, just to de-gloss it. 3) Apply 3-1 Prep Coat if you're trying to cover up old stains, odours, or small, surface imperfections. Also handy when painting a white, or light colour over a dark surface. 4) Paint in long, gentle strokes using light coats. We recommend 3 coats. 5) Finish with a top coat of your choice if your piece will be often used, or require regular cleaning.  That's it!

Vintage Bird Furniture Paint goes a long way...

Here's a quick guide to how much paint you need for different sized projects:

• Small Project like a couple of kitchen stools, or a bedside table or small pair of end tables? You should use less than 250ml of Vintage Bird Paint.

• Medium Project like a dining table, or medium sized console, or 2 bedside tables and bedroom chair? A 500ml size bottle will be perfect in most cases.

• Large project in mind? You can paint a dining table and 4 - 6 chairs (depending on size) with a litre  bottle of our paint. It's also enough to paint a bedhead, 2 bedsides, and a chest of drawers.  If you're planning on a large project, we recommend adding an extra 500ml of your chosen colour to cart. We've got good news for you! In average conditions (not too cold, and not too humid), our Vintage Bird Furniture Paint & Milk Paints take around 20 - 30 minutes to be touch dry. This means you can re-coat in half an hour!

Don't forget to paint in THIN coats - your surface will dry faster, and look smoother when you've finished.

The Eggshell Clear Coat takes around 1-2 hours to  dry once applied. It's best to leave it overnight before use.

The paint and clear coat finish are fully cured in 10-16 days. Care should be taken using items during this period after painting.

Our Vintage Bird Furniture Paint is non toxic, low/no VOC and is made with water based emulsion. It is water wash up contains no irritants harmful to skin. It has minimal odour, and no smelly paint fumes, meaning it's safe to use inside.

We made the deliberate decision to put our paint in bottles, rather than tins or jars to minimise mess, make it easy to pour, and easy to store.
